New and Updated LABSS Information Papers

The SBSH has just published a new and updated LABSS Information Paper.

LABSS Information Paper INFOP46 - 2026 Version 1 - 'Guidance Clause 4.3.14: Handrails to Stairs Applicable to Domestic Buildings' has been produced to provide clarity on the provision of a continuous handrail to a private stair flight where a newel post interrupts the handrail at a change of direction on a winder stair.

LABSS Information Paper INFOP22 - 2019 Version 2 (July 2026) – 'Fire Resistance of External Timber Framed Wall Assessment of Fire Performance' provides guidance when assessing the fire resistance of external timber frame walls where a secondary insulation layer splits the stud and baton onto which the layer(s) of plasterboard are fixed.
